Sonography Canada is national certification body and professional association for sonographers in Canada and is the single national voice for sonographers and the profession in Canada. Our association supports the profession with the Sonography Canada National Competency Profiles for diagnostic medical sonography and national certification examinations that lead to credentials in three sonography specialty areas. A Sonography Canada credential indicates that sonographers have met educational and competency standards at entry-to-practice.
Sonography Canada represents and supports over 6,500 members throughout their professional careers with standardized policy and professional practice standards in the delivery of safe, effective, high quality and ethical patient care. Our guidelines are based on our National Competency Profiles, practice surveys, and reviews of national and international practice standards and guidelines. They should be considered a reference for all Canadian diagnostic imaging workplaces.
